| 16/11-04/12 | VK9XY: Christmas Island (OC-002) VK9X - The Pacific Islands DXpedition Group (PIDXG) and Youth on the Air (YOTA) have announced the VK9XY DXpedition to Christmas Island (OC- 002), running from 16 November to 4 December. Young operators have expanded their roles in recent years - advanc- ing from remote operations on Rotuma (3D2Y) to on-island team par- ticipation on Saba (PJ6Y) - and will now take full charge of plan- ning, leading, and operating the VK9XY DXpedition. The eight-person on-island crew will consist entirely of operators under the age of 25. Confirmed team members include N4ML (team leader), W4IPC, NT1S, LY7J, and 7Q6UJ, with the final roster spots set to be filled in the coming weeks. Veteran DXpeditioners W0GJ and W6IZT will provide on-site guidance and mentorship. The station plan calls for 4 local stations, two remote NexGenRiB2 stations operating over Starlink, and a portable QO-100 satellite station. | February 2027 | 3Y0L: Peter I Island (AN-004) 3Y0L: PETER I ISLAND 2027 ---> The team plans to activate Peter I Island in February 2027 with 19 operators. They have signed a financial agreement with a private group to share the substantial costs associated with the DXpedi- tion. The Norwegian Polar Institute granted the official landing permit in April 2024. Logistics are currently underway; the 3Y0K (Bouvet 2026) con- tainer, which houses the expedition equipment, is being shipped to Texas for repacking before its final journey to the island.
